A message from an artist supported by our Space to Play project, Netty Cleave:
Calling all ex dancers
Do you miss and crave the time and space to be creative?
Are you frustrated because your body is not able to do the things that it used to be able to do? Or feel somehow that you are physically not enough anymore?
Have you forgotten what its like to perform in front of an audience?
I want to create an environment were people who still identify as or want to explore the identity of ‘dancer’ feel supported by each other and are encouraged to share their knowledge. We will accept each other as who we are right now and just to be able to explore a space to play and time to create a piece of dance that can be shared: a safe platform to perform again.
I want to bring together a tribe of people that have a lifetime of experience and knowledge of dance: who want to share that again, who were performers once and deep down always will be. Over time, life’s path has led us in different directions, our bodies have got a little stiffer and our muscles have disappeared.
What I have to offer to you is:
Free four half-day sessions at Dartington Space
Saturday mornings 10 till 1
Session dates to be confirmed
My aim is simple,
To perform again with like minded people, in a safe and supported environment, to take advantage of the studio space in the beautiful surroundings of Dartington and of cause it needs to involve coffee to start and lunch to finish.
Who Am I?
My many hats include, whizzing around in an ambulance for the ambulance service, support worker in a mental health hospital, teacher, dancer, mother, nana, friend.
All great masterpieces start with connecting, talking, planning and creating.
Come and join me on a new journey.
