Boys and girls from Barbican Theatre’s Dance Moves and Dance Junction workshops have been working with lead practitioner Becky Miles to choreograph work inspired by the environment. In January 2016, the theatre are inviting new young people to join their groups for an exciting term, when they will be making and rehearsing for Performance Platforms in the Spring.
Dance Moves is for 8-11 year olds and is held on Mondays from 5 – 6.15pm, whilst Dance Junction is for 12+ year olds and is held on Thursdays from 5 – 6.30pm. Both groups take place in Barbican Theatre’s professional auditorium (Castle Street, Plymouth, PL1 2NJ) where they will be performing their original choreographies in Spring.
The theatre are welcoming young people to come to a Dance Moves or Dance Junction taster session in January 2016! The Dance Moves taster is on Monday 11 January from 5 – 6.15pm and the Dance Junction taster is on Thursday 14 January from 5 – 6.30pm. Here you can meet the rest of the group and find out about the exciting plans for the year ahead.
The theatre prides itself on being open and accessible and they welcome people of all levels of experience to join Performance Training, so you don’t have to be a dancer or actor to take part.
Each group costs just £60 per term (under £6 per class across the year) and the theatre can provide discretionary bursaries.
