Free dancing for the over 50s across Devon
Dance in Devon’s Stepping Out programme ran between May 2016-March 2017 in partnership with Drink Wise Age Well. We provided free high quality dance sessions for people over 50 years old of all abilities. The classes were designed to be fun, sociable and creative, whilst exercising both body and mind.
We ran groups in Ilfracombe, Sidmouth, Tavistock, Ivbridge, Moretonhampstead, Okehampton and Teignmouth. Each group explored a range of dance styles from Samba to ballet, African to ballroom.
We are delighted that Anna Leatherdale in Teignmouth and Becky Jeffery in Ilfracombe are offering new sessions following the end of this project. More details of these sessions can be found here.
What participants said about our sessions:
“I felt refreshed after a busy day.”
“Uplifting, fun, funny, good exercise, good for the brain, sociable.”
“Really good fun, never thought I would learn to dance at 70 plus!”
“The company and the music and the movement is a great way to ward off depression. Saves going to your GP.”
“It is lovely to know you have something good to look forward to when you wake up.”
“I felt it did me good to come out and exercise in good company and enjoy the dancing.”
Dance in Devon is working in partnership with Drink Wise Age Well Devon to deliver sessions in Devon communities.
