The Africa Cornwall Arts Exchange is a new organisation forming to support development of arts interchange between Africa and Cornwall. Our first project is working with the Molly and Paul Childcare Foundation in rural Uganda and assisting the Cornwall based charity Pearl of Africa Childcare Trust which had done much work on community exchanges and fund-raising for the charity in Cornwall and the UK
In a recent visit Annet Kaigwa Headmistress of the Molly and Paul School near Masaka, in Uganda, said that her pupils had had their very first experience of ballet with a visiting Richard Lander pupil demonstrating ballet exercises. They are using youtube to continue offering lessons in Uganda (intermittent web access!)
They are wondering if there is a volunteer who might be part of a team to visit Uganda in 2016 and undertake some basic ballet training development for school teachers and pupils. To Annet’s knowledge there is no ballet activity in Uganda. This is all in the development stage but if there is someone with a spirit of challenge and rugged and adventure…this may be one for you.
