Youth Dance: Weekend Intensive with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance
Saturday 9th/ Sunday 10th May 2015
10:00am – 4:00pm
Venue: Exeter University
We are excited to be working with internationally acclaimed Shobana Jeyasingh Dance to offer young people a chance to work with a company member over an intensive weekend. The workshops will explore choreographic ideas for making new work and be an insight into the way the company create their adventurous and experimental work.
Dance in Devon in partnership with Exeter Phoenix is starting a new youth dance company in the summer term and we hope that this weekend will inspire some committed young dancers to want to join us. The group will meet weekly at Exeter Phoenix to take class and create new work.
The weekend is suitable for young people aged 11-19 (or 25 if disabled) with some experience and a commitment to dance. The cost is £25 or £33 to include a special priced ticket for Shobana Jeyasingh Dance performance of Bayadere –The Ninth Life at Exeter Northcott on Wednesday 13 May 2015. To apply fill in our application form outlining why you think you should be offered this amazing opportunity and send it firstname.lastname@example.org by 4pm on Wednesday 29th April. We will aim to let you know by the end of the day on Thursday 30th April if you have been successful.
