Barbican Theatre is teaming up with all-male national touring company, ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, to prove that boys dance is tough, gritty and cool. Barbican Theatre’s highly physical Boys Dance group will work with ZoieLogic in Spring 2015 as they work towards creating performances for national dance festival U.Dance 2015.
ZoieLogic Dance Theatre was founded by Artistic Director Zoie Golding who aims to engage male audiences through taking small-scale dance performances to male dominated work environments such as scrap yards, naval docks and factories.
Barbican Theatre’s energetic Boys Dance group is for 12+ year olds who want to learn cool lifts and flight moves and develop skill, strength, stamina and confidence. In Spring 2015, Boys Dance members will be working with ZoieLogic Dance Company to learn about their powerful, punchy style.
Boys Dance is held on Mondays from 7.30pm – 9pm at Barbican Theatre, Castle Street, Plymouth, PL1 2NJ and costs £60 per term (roughly £6 per class) with bursaries available for people on certain benefits. If you are 12+ and would like to try Boys Dance for yourself, come along to the theatre’s free taster session from 7.30pm – 9pm on Monday 5th January 2015.
To book a place at the taster session, call 01752 267131 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
