About
Creative Conversation is a forum for discussion where we interrogate an issue, theme or focus on practice in relation to the dance sector, looking at the context in Devon and national dance community. These events are designed to support local dance artists, practitioners, students, teachers and organisations, but are open to anyone who is interested in the topic.
Examples of Previous Conversations
‘Youth Dance’ Creative Conversation for Dance Leaders. Exeter Northcott. March 2016. Followed by Richard Allston Dance at Exeter Northcott.
‘Marc Brew in Creative Converstaion’. Dartington SPACE, October 2016
As a choreographer Marc seeks to challenge and be challenged. Providing the dancers with a new vocabulary that enhances their creativity, he tries to redefine expectations of physicality for both performers and audiences. His work is renowned for its tender, precise choreographic material that exemplifies the beauty of the moments shared between people, revealing the unusual and the inspiring in the everyday and the mundane.
‘Wayne McGregor | Random Dance in Creative Conversation with Gay Watson’ Dartington SPACE December 2014.
It was a great opportunity to hear directly from Wayne about his approach to working with scientific collaborators and the process behind his craft. As part of the event we also offered a workshop for dance teachers and professionals exploring ‘choreographic thinking tools’ with Jasmine Wilson, Director of Creative Learning for Wayne McGregor | Random Dance.
