Creative Dance Retreat with Rosemary Lee
May 29 - May 31
Our Dance Retreats invite you to immerse yourself in dance and creativity in rural Devon with good food and good company. You will stay on the beautiful and historic 14th century Dartington estate and enjoy evening meals together in the White Hart restaurant. With access to Dartington’s light and spacious dance studio and the listed formal and wild gardens you will explore moving together led by exceptional maker Rosemary Lee. This weekender is for people who are open to exploring movement creation in groups and alone and are keen to nourish and reinvigorate their creative bodies and minds.
This weekend will be led by choreographer, director and performer Rosemary Lee. The stimulating, guided workshop explorations will draw on her extensive experience as an internationally renowned choreographer and maker with over 30 years of experience.
“I would like to focus firstly on how we can feel more at home and alive in our bodies, freeing up our potential to move with freedom and flow from the inside out and outside in. Secondly I would like to engage with nature and the outdoor sites on our doorstep. Using the outdoors as inspiration to find new ways to move in the studio but also to explore how we might inhabit particular outdoor sites choreographically.” Rosemary Lee.
Each day will begin with an optional yoga class followed by workshop sessions led by Rosemary that allow you to explore your relationship to nature and to your own body. Workshops will be gentle and supportive, whilst providing new challenges and opportunities to delve into Rosemary’s approach.
Our early morning yoga is intended to offer preparation for body and mind for the day ahead incorporating gentle dynamic sequences and stretches. The emphasis is on breath, awareness, and grounding.
