Dartington goes GAGA

Dartington goes GAGA is a one-day festival offering a chance to experience dance through the GAGA approach with two internationally renowned practitioners: a first time for Devon.
The day combines professional Gaga classes taught by Chisato Ohno with Social Choreography and Release Technique by Pepa Ubera. The day provides unique professional development for dance artists and dance students. There will also be an inclusive workshop open to everyone, with or without dance experience.
Is a Gaga teacher & lecturer at London Contemporary Dance School, who for over seven years danced in the Batsheva Dance Company with Ohad Naharin. Chisato will lead a professional Gaga/dancers’ class, a movement research as well as a Gaga/People’s class in the afternoon.
Pepa Ubera is a performance artist and choreographer. She teaches professionally at The Place and at Tripspace in London as well as internationally. Pepa’s choreographic works were commissioned for Hayward Gallery, Tate Modern and the Now Gallery. Pepa has twice been awarded a Dance Web scholarship for Impulstanz and is currently working with Sadler’s Wells Theatre.

GAGA for everyone (4-5:30pm)
A community dance event & improvisation with Chisato Ohno Following on from the success of Dance the Estate during the first Open House event in Dartington March 2018, this Dance the Estate invites the local community to dance Gaga. This session invites each and everyone who loves to dance and who wants to explore this unique movement language for the first time in Devon.
Classes are open to people ages 16+, regardless of their background in dance or movement. No previous dance experience is needed. Gaga/people classes offer a creative framework for participants to connect to their bodies and imaginations, increase their physical awareness, improve their flexibility and stamina, and experience the pleasure of movement in a welcoming atmosphere.
